Children’s Day Event Layout

‘Kodomo no Hi’ is a national holiday in Japan to celebrate the healthy growth and happiness of children. Children’s Day takes place on the fifth day of the fifth month. The Nippon Club of the Triangle plans fun activities for children at our annual spring event on a weekend close to this date.

The first face-to-face event of the Nippon Club since the pandemic began in 2020.
(It is advisable to keep a social distance and wear a face mask indoors.)

Date: Sunday, May 15th (Rain or Shine)
Time: 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm (the door opens at 1:00 pm)
Place: NC Japan Center (705 Barbour Drive, Raleigh)
Admission: Free and Open to the Public (Suggested Donation of $10/Adult)

Event Activities (All activities are free)

  • Opening Ceremony “Mochitsuki” at 1:30 PM
    Followed by Children’s Mochi-pounding
  • Origami Kabuto (Samurai Helmet) and wear a Kabuto
    Join Kendo Mini-Workshop
  • Chorus Club: anime songs, children’s spring song medley
  • Taiko Mini-Workshop
  • Children’s “Tea Ceremony” indoors every 30 minutes
