In 2011, Nippon Club donated a total of $4,900 to the Tsunami Relief Fund, gathered from generous donors to Rainbow House project of Ashinaga (a non-profit organization). It was an effort to give psychological and social support to the children who lost parents in the March 11 national disaster. We have recently received a progress report from the project. Here is the summary from the report:
“Ashinaga has already purchased a building for child services in the city of Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and will open the facility by the end of June 2013. We also purchased another building in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, which is now under renovation to be reborn as the Ishinomaki Satelite Rainbow House by the end of 2013. We have signed a lease contract for a piece of land for Rikuzentakata Satelite Rainbow House and are planning to construct another Satelite Rainbow House in Otsuchi or Yamada, Iwate Prefecture. The total amount of estimated expenditure for the Rainbow House project for Tsunami relief is $41.5 million and we have raised $36 million as of March 31, 2013.”
We are glad to take a part in this contribution.
